Buena Vista County is located in northwestern Iowa. It is named for victory at Buena Vista in the Mexican-American War.
The seat and largest city are both Storm Lake.
Buena Vista County borders Clay, Pocahontas, Sac and Cherokee Counties.
Main highways include US-71, IA-3, IA-7 and IA-10.
